Have you been applying to dozens of jobs but getting zero responses? You’re not alone!
Lately, there has been an unusual number of job listings appearing on popular platforms like LinkedIn, Indeed, and FlexJobs. But none of those positions seem to be getting filled.
This is because many companies are now posting fake jobs (also known as ghost jobs) on popular job boards and platforms.
Why? Mainly to appear profitable and successful to the world and their investors. By posting fake job listings, they show that the company is growing and actively recruiting new employees.
This scam has been going on for quite some time. Many news outlets have covered it extensively. But it hasn’t stopped.
I came across this video on YouTube, and until then, I had no idea of this disgusting scam. The YouTuber has made a huge spreadsheet full of companies that have been caught doing this.
I highly recommend that you check out this video and be aware of the fake jobs when seeking freelance gigs on popular websites.
I myself have been applying to many jobs like these and received zero responses, even when I had all the experience and skills matching the job requirements.
You and I are not the only ones to fall for this. If you do a quick search on YouTube or Reddit, you will come across thousands of other people who fell for these fake jobs.
These people have applied to hundreds of these jobs and received no responses whatsoever.
This is mostly happening in the corporate world, and big startups and companies are the ones doing this most of the time. But many smaller businesses are starting to follow the trend.
It’s simply disgusting how companies can stoop so low and scam people who are desperately trying to land a job interview.
Just keep this in mind when applying to your next freelance job.
See you next time!
