I used to coast through the day in my early days as a freelancer but now, it’s getting much harder to stay confident let alone motivated.
Especially with the looming threat of AI eventually replacing me, I’m often starting my day thinking about what should I do next, how can I survive, and if this is even worth it!
I know I’m not alone in this. Lots of freelancers are starting to feel this way right now. So I think this will help you deal with that feeling.
Whenever I’m feeling unmotivated, I remind myself how things used to be before I started freelancing.
I worked multiple office jobs before getting into full-time freelancing. And they were all horrible. I used to be depressed every day on the way to work and feel even worse on the way back.
I was undervalued and demeaned daily by my boss and co-workers. And worse of all, I felt like I was stuck in a never-ending loop of mediocrity.
I overcame all of that when I became a freelancer. Today, I compare that old life and remind myself how lucky I am to have this career. I would do everything in my power not to go back to that life again.
This reminder is enough for me to feel energized and get back to working hard as a freelancer. To continue to improve my skills, adapt, and find new ways to land clients.
So, when you’re feeling down and unmotivated, think about the alternative.
How hard are you willing to work to avoid going back to a 9-to-5 cubicle job? Now double that and work even harder to achieve your dreams!
See you next time!
