Imagine going to a library where every book is written by the same author?
Would you trust the information and opinions included in those books?
Would you even enjoy reading them?
That’s exactly what’s happening right now!
The Internet is slowly turning into a library, where the sole author is AI!
Lately, I’ve been thinking about this a lot after seeing a LinkedIn post by Neil Patel, which he calls “AI Content Tsunami”.
More content is being produced right now than ever before. People who have never written an article before now have the means to produce 2,000-word essays in just a few seconds.
But here’s the thing: When everyone’s using the same tools to create content, everything starts to sound the same!
As Neil Patel points out, AI has raised the bar for quality content because most of the content we see today is too generic.
However, most businesses don’t really care about quality; they only care about quantity. As long as they can churn out 100 pieces of content every month, paying $20 per month for ChatGPT Pro, they believe it’s progress and saving money.
At first glance, this AI-generated content looks good. But it’s when you look closer and actually read the articles and watch the videos that you start to see the dullness and lifelessness of the content.
The more you see average, AI-generated content, you train your eye to recognize it. People already know how to spot AI-generated slop.
In the process of scaling faster, businesses will lose their customers, their brand voice, and the opportunity to make memorable and meaningful connections with their customers through storytelling.
I think we are getting closer to that breaking point.
It could end in two ways: People will get tired of AI content and refuse to do business with brands that use AI. Or the Internet will become a useless husk full of AI-generated, average content websites, videos, articles, and images.
What do you think will happen?
