So, for a while now (about 5 or 6 years) I’ve been having this pain in my wrist. It comes around every few months and goes away.
I assumed it was carpal tunnel since I spent the entire day in front of my computer and typing on the keyboard. And I usually apply some home remedies and it gets better.
A couple of weeks ago, this came back but it was much worse than ever before. I couldn’t move my wrist at all and it was excruciatingly painful. After about three days, it spread to my neck and I couldn’t move my neck either.
Long story short, I ended up visiting multiple doctors and specialists and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong. It was pretty scary. After struggling for more than ten days, I managed to recover. Even though it’s still not 100% better, I’m not in pain anymore.
One thing all these doctors advised me was to change my work habits. Prolonged sitting, bad posture, and not moving hands often were all responsible for this situation.
I usually type for hours without standing up for a break. And I’ve been working from home like this for more than 10 years. It seems like I’m finally paying the price for my rigid freelancing lifestyle.
The reason I’m sharing this with you here is to tell you not to make the same mistake I did. Don’t wait until a major health scare to start working out or adopt good work habits.
Take breaks as often as possible and stretch your arms and legs!
Most influencers, YouTubers, and successful people often show off this fantasy lifestyle persuading you to work hard and grind hard until you’re successful. But what they don’t show is the side effects of that same lifestyle.
Working hard to achieve your goals is important, but always know your limits and adopt good habits.
Your health always comes first!
See you next time!
